Story Overview

Full of anticipation for her new high school life, Emma falls asleep. But when she wakes up the next day, she finds herself in a dimly lit prison cell. She has no idea why she was captured. And this prison is located on an isolated island—Emma is thrown into confusion. But she is not the only one...

A talking owl announces to the 13 girls who have arrived: "It has been determined that you are highly likely to be [witches]—a threat to human society. Please live here as prisoners."

The everyday life that once seemed normal collapses. Emma begins her life as a prisoner. During this time, she gets along well with the other girls who are also would-be witches, gradually growing closer—until one day, a girl is suddenly murdered. The owl declares to the imprisoned girls: "The [Witch Trial] will now commence." The girls must ultimately vote to select one [witch] and personally send her to the execution platform...
